Vegas Video Network - Trash Talkin' with LegendsWith the success of the VEGAS VIDEO CO-OP, and in celebration of moving into (and building) our brand new 3,000 square foot studio, we’ve decided to slowly bring back the Vegas Video Network. We haven’t finalized all the shows to be broadcast on VVN but one of the first will be brand new to VVN fans: Trash Talkin’ with Legends.

Fan favorite and nine year NBA workhorse Jerome “Junkyard Dog” Williams, along with his brother Joshua, will host the program on the Vegas Video Network and The Basketball Channel. If our first rehearsal is any indication, this should be a lot of fun. Hearing the inside scoop about how the NBA works (did you know that if your traded on game day, that’s considered REALLY disrespectful?) is fascinating.

Pub Crawl The VEGAS VIDEO NETWORK was launched on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010.  That following Wednesday, the network’s first show was broadcast. We called it Pub Crawl.

I met Pub Crawl hosts Dave and Alicia through podcasting. They came to a Living in Las Vegas meet up a few years prior to the VVN launch and we became fast friends.  When they agreed to host Pub Crawl, I was thrilled.

1000+ days later, we have produced a total of 112 episodes of Pub Crawl.  I’ve learned that the best margaritas are made by the Devil, getting a free drink here and there is an art, and if I want the best drink prices on the Strip, I’ve got to go to Casino Royale. Even better, during that same time, Dave and Alicia have become even closer friends with myself and Melissa. 

For those who’ve never done a weekly (or bi-weekly) video podcast, it is a great deal of work. . .much more so than an audio podcast, to be sure.  And over those 1000+ days, the Ivy’s NEVER complained. 

But a funny thing happened on the way to this post. . .life.

Both the Whitney’s and the Ivy’s have taken on a great deal of extra work in the last few months.  Dave and Alicia started Wicked Pizza, and as anybody in the restaurant business knows, running that type of business is HARD WORK.  Dave continues to focus on the business and deciding on its next important step.  At the same time, I’ve been in stealth mode for a new business that works in conjunction with VVN (more on that later).  Given the focus that is needed by both sides, we have decided to place Pub Crawl on an open-ended hiatus.

I felt the launch of the network was a big success in large part because Pub Crawl was a part of the network lineup. I cannot thank Dave and Alicia enough for the work they put into Pub Crawl.  They were fun, engaging, and entertaining. Just what you want in a host. . .and good friends.

KSHP + VVN = The Only Multi-Camera, Broadcast Quality, LIVE Radio Simulcast in Las Vegas

There has been movement among forward-thinking terrestrial radio stations towards offering a live, online, video stream of their on-air talent.

Howard Stern started it.

Kidd Kraddick does a great job.

And of course, Rush Limbaugh’s golden microphone can be seen online as well.

It’s a great way to provide a behind-the-curtain look at how the show is produced. It’s also very effective at increasing the closeness between the audience and talent. And, if combined with video-on-demand and podcasting, it makes for a great way to archive this content as well.

Equally important, it radically widens the viewer base of the on-air talent. Instead of being restricted to broadcasting to just your city, you can now broadcast to the world.

Beginning last Friday (4/5/13), the VEGAS VIDEO NETWORK joined forces with KSHP AM1400 to provide the ONLY multi-camera, broadcast-quality, LIVE radio simulcast in Las Vegas.

Our first simulcast is The Odds Couple, which went from Fridays at 12p to Monday – Friday at 11a. Host Scottie Pritchard and co-hosts Brett Grant (KSHP General Manager and sports enthusiast) and Anthony Padilla are doing an excellent job.

Beginning on Thursday, 4/11/13, we’ll be adding what I think is one of the most unique radio programming ideas ever to the VVN live video stream–The Radio Shopping Show.

(True story…when I first discovered The Radio Shopping Show back in 2005, I pulled into my driveway and listened for an hour before eventually going into the house. It’s a very clever idea.)

We’ve got other shows about to be added to our joint programming (sports, entertainment), which is where you might come in.

Have you ever thought you should be on the radio? Or, have you considered doing a live and/or on-demand online show (or podcast)? If so, now is your only opportunity to do BOTH at the same time.
